The B&LE is a shortline railroad located in Western Pennsylvania and extreme Northeast Ohio. Primarily an iron ore and coal hauler over its 125+ year existence, the railroad has operated all types of locomotives ranging from Baldwins, ALCos, and EMDs. Although downgraded from a Class I to a regional line, the railroad remains a staple in the Western PA countryside and a must see for any rail enthusiasts visiting the area. In 2004 the B&LE was purchased by the Canadian National Railroad, however, as of June 2009 operations remain nearly the same as pre-CN and not a single CN locomotive has appeared on the B&LE nor have any been repainted to CN colors.
